Apple is happy to support student developers through the Swift Student Challenge. One of many Apple programs that help the next generation of entrepreneurs, designers, and coders. In addition, 50 Distinguished Winners will be honored for their strong submissions and invited to Cupertino for a three-day experience.
Apple’s AI Challenges
Apple has faced several setbacks in the artificial intelligence race, including delays to Siri’s upgrade, senior executive changes, and a weak start for the first release of its generative AI tools.
The presentations at Apple’s last developers conference focused more on smaller improvements. It includes live translation for phone calls, iOS 26, which makes everyday tasks easier, rather than the larger AI goals that its rivals are promoting.
Apple made careful AI promises to consumers, saying the technology could help with tasks such as finding where to buy a jacket like one they had seen online.
Apple Maps Advertising & Services Revenue
Separately, Bloomberg News reported on Monday that Apple is getting ready to add advertising to its Maps app as part of a broader effort to increase services revenue. The report said an announcement could come as soon as this month, citing people who know about the matter. Retailers and brands would be able to bid for ad placements tied to search terms, similar to how ads work in Google Maps.
Apple plans to launch ads inside Maps as early as this summer, and the rollout would cover the iPhone, other devices, and web platforms.
Revenue from Apple’s services segment, which includes iCloud, Apple Music, and other software.
